New Tourism Product

In its first five days of official operation, the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors, leaving both locals and tourists eager to “check in” at this remarkable destination. What makes this tourism site so appealing?

Spanning over 120 hectares, the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area is an investment by FVG Group totaling more than 2.6 trillion VND. After over four years of construction, this ecological tourism project has finally come to life. Positioned as a key tourism project in the Western part of Quang Nam province, it materializes the development strategy for mountainous tourism in Quang Nam, introducing a new and captivating tourism destination.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area (a subsidiary of FVG Group – the project’s investor), shared that in its first phase, the area offers visitors a journey of exploration and unique experiences featuring indigenous cultural stories such as the Co Tu cultural village, cave systems, majestic waterfalls, lush green forests teeming with fruit trees, and notable structures like the seven bridges spanning the Ngan River and a dinosaur fossil model. Additionally, the project introduces a complex of 4-star standard accommodations with 200 rooms and a restaurant system to cater to visitors.

“The Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area welcomed its first visitors from April 29th to May 3rd, despite unfavorable weather conditions. We still managed to receive nearly 10,000 visitors, and the tourism site has been highly sought after, discussed, and shared on travel forums and groups, all leaving positive impressions about this new tourism product. It’s an encouraging sign, indicating genuine interest and support from tourists for new tourism destinations,” Ms. Huong shared.Khu du lịch Cổng Trời Đông Giang: Sản phẩm du lịch mới ở miền Tây xứ Quảng

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area is currently in a trial operation phase. Therefore, operating an entirely new tourism site in a mountainous area poses challenges in terms of transportation infrastructure and local tourism personnel, affecting the preparation process and service quality.

“With a customer-oriented mindset, the Project Management Board of the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area always listens to and welcomes all feedback and constructive criticism from locals and tourists to promptly address and improve the product’s quality, aiming to provide better experiences for visitors. We listen and incorporate customer feedback to further enhance the product and services for the official grand opening in June,” Ms. Huong affirmed.

Driving Force for Quang Nam’s Mountain Tourism

In pursuit of completing the project, FVG Group has overcome numerous challenges to establish an attractive tourism product in the mountainous district of Dong Giang, Quang Nam province, aiming to improve the livelihoods of local residents and contribute to the district’s budget.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, during the construction phase, the enterprise always considered the reasonable ratio of structures to ensure harmony with the tourism area’s criteria and compliance with legal requirements. The operation of the tourism area requires a certain ratio of concrete for transportation, accommodation, and other needs of visitors.

However, the construction ratio of the Dong Giang Sky Gate Tourism Area is less than 10% of the total area, while the permissible ratio is 25%. More than 90% of the remaining area is preserved with green coverage for the project. This is not only the investor’s perspective but also guidance from the Quang Nam provincial authorities.

“The operation of the tourism area has received much praise from visitors, but there are also constructive feedback and suggestions, all of which we respect and welcome to improve this tourism destination,” Ms. Huong stated.Khu du lịch Cổng trời Đông Giang - Quảng Nam | Vitracotour

Sharing the project’s challenges, Ms. Huong mentioned that being the first large-scale tourism project in the mountainous district of Dong Giang, Quang Nam province, the implementation and operation faced many difficulties, such as the transportation issue to the project area not being favorable, ensuring safety for the construction and visitors during the rainy season. Additionally, training local tourism personnel to meet job demands is also a significant obstacle.

Despite this, FVG Group has made efforts to overcome challenges to create an attractive tourism product in the mountainous region of Quang Nam.

From the outset of the tourism area’s construction, FVG Group has aimed to create jobs for local residents and contribute to the local budget. Therefore, even in the trial phase, the project has provided employment for nearly 200 workers, with 50% being Co Tu ethnic people. It is projected that in the second phase, with various entertainment facilities and a cable car line over 1.5 kilometers put into operation, the number of personnel for the project will increase significantly.

“It is planned that by 2023, the number of personnel at the project will double, and we hope that more than 60% of the workforce will be Co Tu people, the local community. Currently, we are conducting on-the-job training by bringing FVG Group personnel from Danang to work at the project, while sharing and instructing locals. We have specific plans for recruitment and training policies for local residents. Therefore, I believe the project will bring a better life to the local people and create momentum for tourism in Western Quang Nam,” Ms. Huong affirmed.
